Judith "Tally" Raines Kesterson, 73, a resident of Belington, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2026, under the care of WV Caring Hospice.
Tally was born Monday, April 21, 1952, at Elkins, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Vera Lea "PeeWee" Ash Raines and Donald Raines, whose ancestors were in the area for several generations.
On Nov. 2, 2013, she was married to Thomas Kesterson, who survives and was originally from Fayetteville, West Virginia.
Also left to cherish her memory are three sons, Donald Roberts and wife, Jennifer, of Elkins, Robert "Chip" Roberts of Syracuse, New York, and Andy Droste of Fairmont, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Kaylene (Bryan) Talkington of Elkins, Nathan (Liz) Roberts of Parsons, Hannah (Austin) Myers of Belington and Timothy Roberts of California; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also, brother, Terry Raines and wife, Sylvia, of Los Lunas, New Mexico, and former spouse, Harry "Butch" Owens Roberts, of Jimtown; and several extended family members and close friends.
Preceding her in death along with her parents were two brothers, David and James Allen "Tony" Raines, both of Elkins.
Tally retired from work in healthcare, leading her family with a servant's heart. She attended the Goff Street Church of Christ.
Tally enjoyed crocheting, home canning and spending time with her family. She was known for her boisterous laugh and her sage advice.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins, West Virginia, on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at 11 a.m.
Pastor Cindy Morgan Roberts will officiate, and interment will follow at the Belington Fraternal Cemetery at Belington, West Virginia.
