Richard Dale Marsh, 84, of Belington, West Virginia, departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, in the Mountain Living Community Assisted Living Facility in Belington, West Virginia.

Richard was born March 11, 1941, in Valley Furnace, a son of the late Overton Milroy and Hazel Marie (Poling) Marsh.

He was united in marriage Dec. 21, 1963, to the former Donna Jo Boyles, who survives at their home near Belington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and spouse, Chad Marsh and Anna of Belington; two daughters and spouses, Kim Mullenax and Eric, of St. George and Tracy Knotts and Dennis Jr. of Valley Furnace; two brothers and spouses, Roger Marsh and Sue, and Donnie Marsh and Linda, all of Philippi; one sister and spouse, Sandy Ferguson and Philip of Belington; six grandchildren, Lydia Mullenax Burns and husband, Logan, Tate Mullenax, Harley Knotts, Elizabeth (Izzy) Knotts, Levi Marsh and London Marsh; and two great-grandchildren, Kassidy Burns and Greer Burns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Sam Marsh.

He was a 1958 graduate of Kasson High School and attended West Virginia Business College in Morgantown. He began work at First National Bank in Philippi and later served as a bank director for many years at Barbour County Bank. He served his country in the United States Army overseas during the Vietnam war and was a proud veteran.

After his service to our country, Richard owned and operated Marsh Trucking of Belington, West Virginia, and attended Corley Church in Corley but was a member of the New Hope Valley Church in Valley Furnace.

Richard retired in 2015 with over 45 years in the trucking business, going by the CB handle Flintstone. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 96 of Belington, where he served as Adjutant for several years.

Until his health became bad, he was an avid farmer and took great pride in his farm located along Rt. 250 in Corley. He enjoyed livestock auctions, tinkering with farm equipment in his shop, propagating fruit trees and gifting them to family and friends, American Legion activities, fishing, hunting, camping and sitting on his back porch in the sun watching the birds later in life.

He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loving father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, from 4 -9 p.m. and again on Wednesday. Feb. 4, 2026, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. At 1 p.m., a funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Lay Speaker Brad Dumire officiating.

Full Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the American Legion Post 96 of Belington, from the funeral home.

A private interment will be in the Tacy Cross Roads Cemetery at Tacy on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026.
