GROVES
Betty Jo Corder Groves, 82, a resident of Coalton, West Virginia, departed this Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
She was born Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1943, at Alpena, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Harold Vernon Corder and Mabel Marie Farris Corder.
On May 8, 1965, at Elkins, West Virginia, she was married to William Clayton “Bud” Groves, who preceded her in death July 17, 2016.
Surviving are one son, Franklin Bradley Groves of Coalton, West Virginia; one daughter, Tammy Marie Burdette of Almond, Wisconsin; one brother, Jerry Corder of Elkins; three grandchildren, Chance Burdette, Jodi Burdette and Hanna Burdette; and two great-grandchildren, Addilyn Marie McMullen and Aiden Alexander McMullen.
Preceding her in death are one daughter, Jody Diane Groves; four brothers, Garvin Harold Corder, Gene Corder, Victor Leon Corder and Louis Neal Corder; and three sisters, Faye Moore, Patty Corder and Freda Richards.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1961. She was a former employee of a candy factory in Pennsylvania, the Kmart Restaurant, Alpine Lodge and she worked at T-Mart for many years.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mike Hamrick will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
