Carolyn Suzanne ‘Sue’ Hare

Carolyn Suzanne “Sue” Hare, 77, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the West Virginia Caring Hospice Inpatient Center in Elkins.
She was born July 28, 1948, in Morgantown, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Archie Gray Summers and Ruth Jean Turner Summers.
On Dec. 11, 1965, she married Burton Daniel Hare Sr., who survives. They had celebrated 60 wonderful, inseparable years of marriage.
She is also survived by three dearly loved children, two sons, Burton Daniel “Skip” Hare Jr. and wife, Roxane, of Elkins, and Adam Lee Hare and wife, Theresa, of Linthicum, Maryland; and one daughter, Terri Lynn Brown and husband, Richard, of Pasadena, Maryland.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Brittany and Justin, Richie and Justine, Alexis and Trey, Jackson, Ryan, McKinley and Kendall; and five great-grandchildren, Harper, Ada Jo, Skyler, Addison and Hank.
Also preceding her in death was one brother, Robert A. Summers; and one sister, Janet Ruth Wolfe.
Sue retired from Nella’s Nursing Home and was known as “The General” who kept everyone in place at Liberty Machine for many years.
She was an excellent cook, homemaker and was very family oriented. She dearly loved her husband, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and loved spending time with her family, including new additions.
Sue loved going to the Racetrack cheering on her son and grandson, the ocean and was a Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
She was a member of the Rivers of Living Water Ministries. Most of all, she loved her Savior and walked with God every day.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Rivers of Living Water Ministries, 130 Midway Loop, Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026, from the church, with Dr. Jeff Davis and Pastor Mike Boggs officiating.
Interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins.
