Charles Ray ‘Jake’ Pingley

PINGLEY

Charles Ray “Jake” Pingley, 84, a resident of the Teaberry Hills Community, Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at his home.

He was born Tuesday, July 29, 1941, at Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late Harvey Ray Pingley and Reva Fern Stevenson Pingley.

On Sept. 18, 1976, at Parsons, West Virginia, he was married to the former Marjorie Marva Maria McQuain, who preceded him in death Dec. 23, 2021.

Surviving are one daughter, Vanessa Carr and husband, Leroy, of Elkins; one stepson, Jeffrey Thomas McLaughlin of North Carolina; one brother, Ronald Lee Pingley and wife, Janie, of Beverly; one sister, Linda Lemley and husband, Chris, of Virginia; two grandchildren, Nicholas Ray Carr of Elkins and Jordan McLaughlin of North Carolina; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death are one stepson, David Bruce McLaughlin; one brother, Willard Pingley; and one nephew, Nathaniel Pingley.

He was a graduate of Coalton High School. Following high school, he worked as a butcher for Community Market at Elkins for several years. He was a route delivery driver for Stroehmann Bread Company and was presently working at Wal-Mart stocking bread for Nickles Bakery.

He faithfully attended Norton Community Church and was a lifelong member of the Jaycees.

In his younger years, he enjoyed softball and always had a passion for bowling.

Jake was a loving friend, father and grandfather.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday at noon.

Pastor Paul Howell will officiate, and interment will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery at Beverly, West Virginia.
