Clarence William Turner

He was born Jan. 18, 1946, at Petersburg, West Virginia, a son of the late Glenn William Turner and Cornnie Sites Turner Legge.

On Nov. 20, 1966, he was married to Carolyn L. Mullenax, who preceded him in death Dec. 22, 2018.

He is survived by two sons, William G. “Will” Turner and companion, Amanda Adamson, of Whitmer, and Timothy W. “Tim” Turner and wife, Melissa, of Bowden; two brothers, Kelley Turner of Maysville, West Virginia, and James Turner of Upper Tract, West Virginia; and three sisters, Irene Warner of Petersburg, West Virginia, Paula Mongold of Moorefield, West Virginia, and Angela Newlin of Winchester, Virginia.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Johnathan Turner and wife, Emily, Shayne and Summer Turner and Heidie Shifflett; and four great-grandchildren, Easton, Stella and Madeleine Turner and Ella Shifflett.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Lysle Turner.

Clarence was a graduate of Petersburg High School and retired from Labor’s Union 984.

Clarence joined the Whitmer Volunteer Fire Department May 1, 1974, and became Fire Chief in 1984 and remained Chief until his death.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Whitmer Volunteer Fire Department.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from the fire department, with Pastor Jimmy Dellinger officiating.

Interment will follow at the Mullenax Cemetery, Little Italy Road, Whitmer, West Virginia.
