Donald Ray Coberly

Donald Ray Coberly, 97, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life early Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026, at the West Virginia Hospice Center in Elkins, West Virginia.

He was born June 8, 1928, at Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late Wilson Sterling Coberly and Addie Dolly Taylor Coberly.

He was married to Helen Grace Bohon Coberly, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Donald Bradley Coberly and wife, Suzie, of Baltimore, Maryland; one daughter, Regina Bohon Mouse of Rivesville, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Tim Mouse and wife, Crystal, and Jamie Mouse Morgan and husband, Pete; six great-grandchildren, Josh, Emily, Hunter, Bowen, Barrett and Lydia; and three great-great-grandchildren, Alexis, Landyn and Jameson.

He is the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by one brother, Thurman Clay Coberly; and three sisters, Wanda Jean Schoonover, Mildred Leone Hottle and Wilda Jackline Cooper.

He attended the schools of Randolph County. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and a life member of the V.F.W. of Maryland.

Donald worked as a Heavy Repairman for General Motors for 27 years.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Elkins and was a member of the Clover Leaf Square Dancing Club of Maryland. He enjoyed square dancing and hunting in his earlier years and loved cars.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins, West Virginia, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 10 a.m. until noon.

A graveside service will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road, Elkins, West Virginia.
