Harold W. ‘Sparky’ Simmons

Mr. Harold W. “Sparky” Simmons, 80, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026.

He was born April 17, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Harold “Pete” Simmons and the late Marie (Allen) Simmons.

Surviving is daughter, Jane (Simmons) Robert and husband, Darren, of North Stonington, Connecticut, daughter, Brady Simmons of Astoria, New York, and son, Christopher Simmons and wife, Kelly, of Warrenton, Virginia.

His children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild meant the world to him.

Sparky was formerly married to Bertha Simmons and they remained friends.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Sonny and Donnie Simmons; and one sister, Barbara Hauger.

Sparky was a Marine Corp veteran and graduated from West Virginia University, where he was a gymnast, obtaining a master’s degree in safety engineering.

He enjoyed eating at Scottie’s Diner with lifelong friends Jimmy Shimbo and Ray LaMora.

Sparky loved to ski at Canaan Valley, golf and dance at the Honi Honi. He was a loyal Pittsburgh Steeler and WVU Mountaineer fan.

Inurnment of his cremains will take place at a later date at the Southside Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Harold W. “Sparky” Simmons.
