Vickie Lynn Jones

JONES

Vickie Lynn Jones, born Nov. 28, 1964, in Elkins, West Virginia, passed away on Feb. 27, 2026.

She was a lifelong member of the Elkins community and more recently of Hagerstown, Maryland. She had attended Elkins High School, graduating in 1987. Throughout her life, she embraced her community with enthusiasm and heart.

She generously volunteered with Mountain State Hospice, serving others with compassion and kindness. As a young woman, she was active in Girl Scouts and participated in Special Olympics, experiences that reflected her joyful spirit and determination.

She was a devoted member of Weaver Church of the Nazarene, where she faithfully served as both a Sunday School teacher and a Bible School teacher. Her church family was an important part of her life, and she found great purpose in teaching and sharing her faith with others. She especially cherished the friendship of her best friend, Nora Poling, whose companionship meant so much to her throughout the years.

She had a love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed collecting jewelry, doing her makeup, drinking Dunkin, playing games on her phone, working on jigsaw puzzles, and watching Hallmark movies and the Disney Channel. She especially looked forward each year to attending the Mountain State Forest Festival with her sister, Shawna, and her nieces, Jess and Ber (Amber), making treasured memories together.

She also greatly enjoyed trips to Tennessee to spend time with Madi, Egan and Sam. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her nieces, great-niece and family, creating special moments filled with laughter and love.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Vernon Leo Hymes and Odie Kathleen Hymes; her paternal grandmother, Sylvia Phillips Jones; her parents, Victor Lane Jones and Joan Hymes Jones; and several special aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Shawna and Kevin Vida; two nieces, Jessica Vida and her significant other, Amber Bismark, and Madison Socks and her husband, Samuel Socks; and one great-niece, Egan Socks, whom she loved very much. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Butch and Wanda Hymes, Rick and Vicki Hymes and Kathleen Skidmore, who was like a second mother to her.

Her life was a testament to faith, family, and finding joy in everyday moments. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins, West Virginia, on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. the funeral hour.
