Billy J. Lambert
LAMBERT
Billy J. Lambert, 87, of Freedom Township (Windham) passed away peacefully with his family around him, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in his home.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1938, in Valley Head, West Virginia, the son of the late Samuel (Herman) Lambert and Margie Mae (Hannah) Lambert.
He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and traveled to Germany until he was injured in 1959. Billy spent most of his younger years in Elkins, West Virginia, before moving his family to Ohio in 1965 to work for General Motors in Lordstown. He worked for GM for 30 years and was a UAW 1112 member, before retiring in 1993.
Billy was an amazing âjack of all trades,ã always working on a car or tinkering in his garage, building something or fixing things. He made the decision to become a devoted Christian and follower of Jesus in 1971 and he held the office of Deacon at the church where he and his family attended.
Billy maintained lifelong friendships with many Pastors in the area who speak often of his love and devotion for the Lord. He married Judy Sines in 1989 and moved to Oakland, Maryland, where he enjoyed spending time with her, traveling in their RV and living in Florida during the winter months until she passed away in 2022.
After moving back to Ohio, he enjoyed going to church on Sunday, mowing the lawn, family dinners, reading his Bible, spending time with his sisters, his daughters and his grandkids.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Judy Elaine Sines; his sister, Shirley Ann Kaiser; and his son-in-law, Rick.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly (Rick) Cook of Ravenna, Billie Ann (Larry) Bratnick of Windham, Melanie Lambert of Ravenna, Julie Lambert of Windham, and Mark Lambert of Sherman, Texas; his two sisters, Thelma Jean (Bernard) Duvall of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and Mary Lou (Chub) Marco of Mantua; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Newton Falls on Thursday April 23, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Steve Spurlock officiating. Calling hours will be from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Billy will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Taylor-Sines Cemetery in Oakland, Maryland.
