Mr. Clarence Junior McLean, 81, a resident of Belington departed this life early Sunday morning April 19, 2026, at his home. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born Nov. 17, 1944, at Belington West Virginia, a son of the late Clarence Aretus and Rita Summie Poling McLean.
On Dec. 14, 1968, he was united in marriage to the former Kathryn Marie Corbin, who preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2023.
He is survived by two sons, Chet Jay McLean and wife, Betty, and Chad Junior McLean, both of Belington. Additional survivors include eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by nine siblings, Alva E. McLean, Donnie Ray McLean, Arley McLean, Eileen Goode, Rosalee Sipe, Edna Corley, Carol Moyes, Charlotte Mulson and one infant sister. Junior was the youngest of his family and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Junior attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate from the Belington High School with the class of 1963. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam war. He was a former member of the Westside United Methodist Church in Belington, but more recently was attending the Weaver Church of the Nazarene in Junior.
For most of his adult life he worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 132. He was also a member of the Belington Masonic Lodge 125 AF & AM, where he was a past Worshipful Master. He was part of the Brian Mitchell Race Team and he could do about anything mechanically. Most importantly to him was his family and the people he loved to be around. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg in Belington on Friday April 24, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday April 25, 2026, from 8 to 11 a.m. At 11 a.m., a funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington, where Full Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the American Legion Post 96 of Belington and also the Belington Masonic Lodge 125 AF & AM will conduct the Masonic Ritualistic Burial Rite.
