Mr. Howard Eugene “Gene” Holsberry, 81, of the Teter Creek Community, Montrose, West Virginia, departed this life on Monday morning April 13, 2026, in the comforts of his home. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born Feb. 24, 1945, of Holsberry Mills, Barbour County, West Virginia, a son of the late Leslie J. and Virginia Evelyn Booth Holsberry. On Sept. 8, 1964, at the Belington Nazarene Church, he was united in marriage to the former Minnie Louise Faesenmeier, who survives at their home in Montrose.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Greg Howard Holsberry and wife, Mary Jane, of Philippi and Tressa Lynn Baisi and husband, Greg, of Montrose; and one sister, Mardene Harris of Belington. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Camron Mouser and wife, Kammi, of Tacy, Jacqueline Mitchell and husband, Ryan, of Montrose, Abbigayle Holsberry of Elkins and Ryleigh Holsberry of Junior; nine great-grandchildren and his K-9 companion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Gene attended the schools of Barbour County and attended the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington. He was formerly employed in Ohio as a machine operator. He then moved back to Barbour County where he was self-employed and owned and operated Happy Hanger Drywall from which he retired. He loved to hunt, fish and ride his side by side and he could do just about anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved wife with all of his heart.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Friday April 17, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday April 18, 2026, from 8-11 a.m. At 11 a.m., a funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will then follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Montrose.
