Janet Louise Hinzman Miller

Janet Louise Hinzman Miller, 85, a resident of Valley Bend passed from this life Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center in Elkins.

Janet was born Monday, Jan. 6, 1941, in Mabie, a daughter of the late George Warren Hinzman and Mary Grace Simmons Hinzman.

Left to cherish Janet's memory are two daughters, Sherrie Grace Gall Cowgill and husband, Robert Eugene, of Beverly, and Nancy Ann Gall and husband, John Beckett Welch; one brother, Robert Ernest Hinzman and wife, Billyesue, of Beverly; two sisters, Ellen Leigh Hinzman Swecker and husband, Joseph, and Susan Ann Hinzman, all of Valley Bend; five grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Reilly, Jessica Leann Hedrick, Katelyn Renee Chirdon, Emily Louise Starr, and Evan Hamilton Cross; 10 great-grandchildren, Killian Reilly, Coralei Reilly, Nylee Hedrick, Corbin Hedrick, Brooklyn Chirdon, Joslyn Chirdon, Olivia Starr, Grayson Starr, Eli Cross and Leah Cross; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Janet in death besides her parents were three brothers, Warren Edgar Hinzman, Frank Eugene Hinzman and Bennie Hinzman; and one sister, Luella Hinzman Riggleman.

Janet was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1958. She had served with the United States Army as a cryptic decoder. She later worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a forestry technician and also as a homemaker.

Janet was a patriotic person who loved her country, her church, and the people of her community. She was an avid reader, and a faithful member of the Valley Bend Church of Christ.

Janet's request for cremation will be honored. A memorial service will be held at Valley Bend Church of Christ on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 1pm with Pastor Albert Brown officiating and members of the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion and the West Virginia Honor Guard will conduct military honors. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at the Dailey Fire Hall.
