Kessler Byard Pingley

PINGLEY

Kessler Byard Pingley, 91, a resident of Huttonsville, West Virginia, departed this life early Sunday morning, April 5, 2026, at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center with his loving family by his side.

He was born Tuesday, Oct. 2, 1934, at Huttonsville, West Virginia, a son of the late John Wesley and Della Mae Tacy Pingley.

On March 4, 1961, at Oakland, Maryland, he was married to the love of his life, the former Karma Sue Ventress, who preceded him in death.

Also surviving are one son, Kenneth Byard Pingley and Claudia of Huttonsville; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Brady and husband, Daniel, of Huttonsville; four grandchildren, Kassie Waybright, Zachary Pingley, Erika Pingley and Emily Watson; and four great- grandchildren, Kierstyn and Waylon Waybright, Clementine Watson and Wave Watson.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, John Junior “Johnnie” and Glen F. Pingley; and 11 sisters, Geraldine Rosencrance, Lenora Beavers, Evelyn Lorena Tacy, Perlean Pingley, Irene Pingley, Dorotha Pingley, Georgia Berry, Ora Chase, Eva Janos, Woodsie Lindsay and Grace Smith.

He attended Tygarts Valley High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1957 to 1959.

He worked as a foreman for the West Virginia Department of Highways, retiring in 1987, was a member of the Huttonsville Presbyterian Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Randy Long will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville, West Virginia, where full military honors will be accorded by members of the WV Army National Guard Honor Guard Program, the H. W. Daniel’s Post 29, American Legion and the Tygarts Valley Post 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
