Larry Alan Phillips

Larry Alan Phillips, 71, a resident of Belington, West Virginia, more recently of the Tygart Valley Health & Rehabilitation Facility, departed this life on Sunday morning, March 29, 2026, in the Davis Medical Center at Elkins, West Virginia. Death was following a period of declining health but death was unexpected.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1955, at Philippi, West Virginia, a son of the late Edgar Newton Phillips and Alice Christina Wilt Phillips Flanagan.

On June 11, 1977, he was united in marriage to the former Donna Jean Ice, who survives at their home in Belington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Greg Alan Phillips of Belington and David Larry Phillips and fiance, Kim Sanders, of Bridgeport; brother, Thomas Howard “Jake” Phillips and companion, Debbie, of Belington; sisters, Anita Catherine Phillips of Belington and Rebecca Shaffer and husband, Kevin, of Oakland, Maryland; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Melba and Carl Ice.

Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews and a whole host of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Kenneth R. “Kenny” Phillips and Michael Joseph Phillips; step-father, Herbert “Bud” Flanagan; and one brother-in-law, Richard Carl Ice.

Larry attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate from the Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1973. He was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Elkins. He was former employed as custodian for Barbour County School System and later became a bus driver, from which he retired. He was a member of the Belington Volunteer Fire Department, where he was in charge and organized the kitchen during the Belington Fair. Most mornings you could find him at Barb’s Restaurant having his morning coffee.

Larry loved camping, hunting and fishing and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

At Larry’s request, cremation will be honored.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Saturday April 11, 2026, from 11a.m. to 2 p.m., where a memorial service will he held from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Ken Shiflett officiating and assisted by Pastor David Shelton.

His cremains will be laid to rest in the Stringtown Cemetery near Belington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Belington Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 515 Belington, WV 26250.
