Mary Sue (Bennett) Reel

Mrs. Mary Sue (Bennett) Reel, 70, a resident of Belington, departed this life Tuesday morning April 21, 2026, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. Death was following a period of declining health.

She was born Nov. 6, 1955 at Canton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Roy G. and Lillie Cross Bennett. On April 15, 1974 at Belington, she was united in marriage to Michael E. Reel, who survives at their home.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Robin Reel and companion, Dean Watson, of Norton, Rhonda Phillips and husband, Mike, of Buckhannon and Vickie Reel of Belington; and one son, Gary Reel also of Belington; eight grandchildren, Brian Reel, Cody Reel, Brandon Reel, Cory Phillips, Aaron Reel, Jarod Reel, Caitlyn Reel and Dalton Reel; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth Huffman of Terra Alta; and two brothers, Bernie and James Bennett of Belington; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-dad, Randolph Ginger; and her sister, Doretta Bennett; and an infant step-son, John Reel.

Mary attended the schools of Barbour County and was a homemaker all her life. She loved to babysit her grandkids and always enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Monday April 27, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Tuesday April 28, 2026, from 8-11 a.m. the funeral hour at which time final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jamie Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington.
