TENNEY
Phay Edward Tenney II, 71, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1954, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Phay Edward and Doris Lee Worsham Tenney. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Amy Williams Tenney; sister, Amy Lee Post and husband, Ed, of Webster, New York; nephew, Jonathan Post and wife, Koury, of Webster; brother-in-law, John M. Williams and wife, Patty, of Buckhannon; sister-in-law, Jean Williams LaRosa of Buckhannon; nieces, Stephanie S. Finn and husband, Travis, of Erie, Pennsylvania; Morgan Jane LaRosa of Louisville, Kentucky; nephews, Phillip John Williams of Hawaii, D.J. LaRosa of Sissionsville, West Virginia; seven great nieces and nephews; and a few great-great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his in-laws, John M. Williams and Alice D. Williams; one niece, Melandie Post; and five beloved dogs, General, Tiffany, Puppy, Old Man and Moose.
Ed was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buckhannon. He worked at Union Drilling, Inc. for 27 years serving as a roughneck to a mechanic to a shop foreman. Ed lived a full life, trying everything at least once.
He graduated from B-UHS in 1972, achieved the rank of “Life” Scout with the BSA, held a private pilot’s license, was a certified scuba diver, repelled off the New River Gorge Bridge twice, hunted elk in Colorado, achieved “Distinguished Rifleman” ranking with hi-powered rifle, and was a schooled gunsmith. He owned T&T Gun Shop and loved his guns, motorcycles and old tractors. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers, Sandra Osburn, Rhonda Cerullo and Jack Daniels.
Friends will be received, Friday, April 10, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
