Rev. Charles Raymond ‘Preacher’ Herron

Rev. Charles Raymond “Preacher” Herron, 81, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center in Elkins.

Charles was born Friday, March 9, 1945, in Elkins, a son of the late Raymond David Herron and Martha Geneva Hornick Herron.

On October 29, 1977, in Wheeling, he married the former Pauline “Sue” Fancher, who preceded him in death on May 31, 2021. They had celebrated 43 years of marriage.

Left to cherish Charles’ memory are four children, Cathy West of Ohio, Ron Herron and wife, Sherri, of Montrose, Mike Herron and wife, Jayme, of Beverly, and Tim Herron and wife, Johnnie Sue, of Elkins; eight grandchildren, Tylor, Zach, Isaac, Jaylea, Makenlea, Alex, Preston and Dylon; six siblings, Judy Wolford, Doris Marko, Don Herron, Betty Eltringham, Roger Herron and Faye Straub; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Charles in death besides his parents and wife was one daughter, Melody Ann Herron; and three siblings, Patty Herron, Ronnie Herron, Elsie Starks.

Charles attended the schools of Randolph County. He had been employed as a local coal miner and was very proud at the importance of his job as a roof bolter. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, and bowling. His team name on the league was “Gutter Balls.”

Most importantly, Charles was an evangelical minister for over 50 years. Starting in 1993, Charles and his wife, Sue, were co-pastors of the Dailey Revival Center Church.

Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Pastor Daniel Rogers will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.

The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Rev. Charles Raymond Herron.
