Ms. Barbara Ann (Price) Thompson, 72, a resident of Junior, West Virginia, departed this life Sunday afternoon May 3, 2026, at her residence. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born March 10, 1954, a daughter of the late Nelson Keith and Margaret Phillips Price.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Donnie Mullenex Jr. and wife, Stacey, of North C.arolina, Loretta Thompson Simmons and husband, Mark, of Valley Head, West Virginia, and Brian Thompson of Belington, West Virginia; step-children, Randall Thompson and wife, Sylvia, of South Carolina, Nancy Thompson Garton of West Virginia and Anthony Thompson of Arkansas; one brother, George Price of Junior, West Virginia, and one sister, Elizabeth Joan Allen of Belington, West Virginia; grandchildren, Tamara Fortney, Darryl Foster, Arcavian Fortney, Angel Mullenex, Eric Ashley Sr., Donnie Mullenex and wife, Talia, James Mullenex and Charles âC.J.ã Pharis Jr.; and her special grandchildren and caregivers, Marcus Fortney and Tasha Hartley; great-grandchildren; Hunter and Stella Fortney, Bella and Hudson Foster, Eric Jr., Eric III and Emmerie Ashley, Nicole Mullenex; and several step great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and a whole host of friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her former husband, James Arthur Thompson Sr.; one daughter, Margaret Jean Mullenex Pharis; and a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Dawn Fortney.
Barbara attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate of the Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1972. She was a former employee of RiedBoard Brothers as a seamstress, she was also formerly employed at the senior center and more recently in the last several years she worked at various in-home care jobs from which she retired.
She was a member of the Weaver Church of the Nazarene and she loved and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Saturday May 9, 2026, from noon-2 p.m. the funeral hour, at which time final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating. Interment will follow in the Knights of Pythias/Mt. View cemetery near Junior, West Virginia.
