Charles ‘Charlie’ Harold Pingley
PINGLEY
Charles “Charlie” Harold Pingley, 82, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, in Crestview Manor at Jane Lew, West Virginia.
He was born Aug. 28, 1943, in Elkins, a son of the late Clyde and Luzetta Hogan Pingley. On Oct. 26, 1963 at Oakland, Maryland, he was married to Wanda Shiflett Pingley. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Surviving is a sister, Esther Winton and husband, Butch, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were sisters, Lenora Swecker and Doris Strader.
Charlie was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School with the class of 1961. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and camp. As a young man he worked at logging on Cheat Mountain and was a machinist at General Electric in Waynesboro, Virginia, for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a Protestant by faith and loved to joke with people he liked. He enjoyed situation comedies and watching TV westerns and loved to learn and study history.
A special thanks goes to Penny Brown, Donna Morgan, Denny Ware, Tom Chewning and Luther Ratliff for the support they gave Charlie.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, at Brick Church Cemetery and interment will follow.
The family request in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a charity of choice in Charlie’s memory.
