Jessie Elizabeth Warner Sponaugle
Jessie Elizabeth Warner Sponaugle, 101, a resident of Valley Bend, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in the West Virginia Caring Hospice Facility in Elkins.
She was born Dec. 2, 1924, at Hunting Ground, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Amby Warner and the late Surrilda Waybright Warner.
On March 21, 1946, at Oakland, Maryland, she was married to Cranston J. Sponaugle, who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2019.
Surviving are three sons, Dannie Ervin Sponaugle and wife, Susan, of Naples, Florida, William Jearl Sponaugle and wife, Connie, Seymour, Tennessee, Lonnie Lane Sponaugle and wife, Evadale, of Valley Bend, West Virginia; and one daughter, Patricia Rose Daniels and husband, Irvin, of Beverly, West Virginia. Eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Sam Warner and Noah Warner; and four sisters, twin sister, Bessie Warner, Leota Arbaugh, Peachie Warner and Opal Bennett.
Mrs. Sponaugle was employed as a seamstress for Reidbord Brothers. She loved to do crafts, crochet baby blankets, seater outfits, quilting, gardening, canning, knitting, baking and attending craft shows.
She was a Pentecostal by Faith and attended the Vision Worship Center in Elkins.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2026, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel with Jeremie Sponaugle officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
The family request memorial contributions be made to the Vision Worship Center, 1612 Lavalette Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 or a charity of choice in memory of Mrs. Sponaugle.
