Eugenia M. Phillips
PHILIPPS
Eugenia M. Phillips, 90, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the Davis Medical Center.
Born Aug 26, 1935, to Eugene Harry Smith and Frances Smith Lewis.
She grew up in Elkins and Belington.
She married James Theodore (Ted) Phillips on April 30, 1956, and raised two children, Kathy Sue and James Kevin (Jimmy).
Also surviving are grandchildren, Kyle Tunison and Staci, Kody Tunison and Julia, Maria Casto and Ryan, Olivia Phillips, Rudy Phillips, Eve Phillips and Claira Stewart; great- grandchildren, Annatalia Jean Tunison and Luca Casto; and her special companion “Roxanna the dog.”
Also preceding her in death were four brothers and two sisters.
She was employed as an EKG Tech at Memorial General Golden Clinic for many years and was a homemaker. For fun she joined a ladies bowling league and traveled around the country to tournaments. She really loved to travel. We always joked that mom’s side of the family was part gypsy.
Someone would start to say let’s go… and everyone would be in the car even before they knew where they were going. She just loved to go. She also enjoyed doing ceramics with a group of dear friends. Called it her therapy… She was creative and artistic.
She was very nurturing, always putting others before herself. She gave gentle end of life care to her granny, Mix; her aunt, Fredia; her husband, Ted; and her mother, Frances.
Even though she was the oldest of seven, she outlived all six of her siblings. She was one strong woman. She was an excellent cook, liked to puzzle and read her harlequin intrigue books. She loved her family and especially all her grand kids and great grand babies.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
At noon on Saturday, she will be moved to Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman, where a graveside service will be held.
Pastor Ann Fretwell will officiate and interment will follow.
The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Eugenia M. Phillips.
