Mrs. Helen Yvonne Sturms Bibey, 92, a resident of the Teter Creek Lake Community, departed life Friday evening, June 26, 2026, at her home. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born June 16, 1934, at Brownton West Virginia, a daughter of the late Ralph and Elvia Virginia Fawley Sturms.
On April 11, 1953, at Elkins, West Virginia, she was united in marriage to Leon Bibey, who survives at their home in the Teter Creek Lake Community.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Monica Bibey of Akron Ohio, Susan Renee Fontanez of Longwood Florida, and Michelle Lee Fleming and husband, Curtis, of Bridgeport; one brother, Guy Sturms of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Douglas Bibey; one daughter, Pamela Jean Trent; one sister, Rose Lee Orndoff; and a brother, Wilbur Sturms.
Mrs. Bibey attended the schools of Barbour County and was a 1952 graduate of the Belington High School. She was a homemaker most of her married life and raised five children with care and love. She was a Christian by faith and was an avid reader. She loved flowers and loved to quilt. She took great pride as a Belington High School Alumni and was very involved in the organizing of her high school reunions. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Sunday July 5, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Tom Horne officiating.
Interment will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery near Belington.
