Kathy Dawn Cook Binns, 59, a resident of Elkins passed from the life Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of WV Caring.
Kathy was born Friday, Oct. 28, 1966, in Elkins, a daughter of Larry Bruce Cook and Carolyn Loretta Nelson Cook of Elkins.
Also left to cherish Kathy’s memory is one son, Devin Cook and wife, Stephanie, of Elkins, two sisters, Loretta Bennett and husband, Arthur, and Karen Beam, all of Elkins; four grandchildren, Tyler Keefer, Samantha Sheridan, Zoey Cook and Carson Cook; special friends, Robin Darling and Chris Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by an infant son, Joshua Cook.
A 1984 graduate of Elkins High School, Kathy went on to attend Davis & Elkins College.
She was a homemaker who took care of her son and many other children in the area that she claimed as her own. She enjoyed gardening, camping and just spending time outdoors. She loved her family and her dogs, and family gatherings were some of her favorite times spent.
Kathy’s request for cremation will be honored, and her family will celebrate her life at one of her most beloved family gatherings.
