Buddy Charles “Bud” Tacy, 89, of Huttonsville, West Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on March 15, 1937, in Huttonsville, a son of the late Gilbert Tacy and the late Alva Archer Tacy. On April 19, 1961, he married Vonna Kathryn “Kathy” Swecker, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Kevin Tacy and wife, Lesley, of Maryville, Tennessee; and four daughters, Denise Tacy of Elkins, West Virginia, Tina Warner and husband, Bob, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Patty Chenoweth and husband, Tim, of Elkins, West Virginia, and Lona Markley and husband, Anthony, of Elkins, West Virginia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexandria Myers, Amelia Gorz, Sasha Biggs, Erin Tacy, Matthew Chenoweth, Ben Chenoweth, Kevin Tacy, Seth Warner and Reese Markley; as well as three great-grandchildren, Kyler Chenoweth, Maylee Chenoweth and Luke Gorz.
Also preceding him in death were four brothers and four sisters. Bud was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In 1957, Bud enlisted in the United States Air Force where he obtained the rank of Airman Third Class. He served four years as a cryptographic operator at numerous military facilities. He was a member of the Mt. View Church of the Nazarene in Huttonsville for 39 years.
More than anything, Bud was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He found joy in fishing, tying trout flies, photography and watching college basketball. His greatest happiness came from spending time with his family. His wisdom, sense of humor and exceptional storytelling will be remembered by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at the Mt. View Church of the Nazarene on Monday, July 20, 2026. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Tim Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery, Huttonsville, where full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the United States Air Force, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
