Delores Jean Teter, of Elkins, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. She was 87 years old.
Born on April 17, 1939, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph and Francis Moore. Delores was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her loving children, Emmet (Donna) Teter of Elkins, Brenda (John) Everson of Fairmont, David Teter of Elkins, and Debbie (Bill) Knight of Fairmont. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Lorrie, Jeremy, Josh, Nicole, Kailee and Michael.
Her greatest joy was her family, and she treasured her great-grandchildren, Cesilee, Blayze, Brandon, Austin, Caleb, Kaden, Aaron, Will, Carter, Emma and Carly. She was also blessed to love her great-great-grandchild. Millie. She is also survived by her siblings, Carole, Bernard “Bud” and Nancy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Gerald Teter; her infant son, Kenneth; and her siblings, Jim, Don, Teresa, Irene and Jerry. We find comfort in knowing she has also been reunited with her other family members she loved and missed so dearly.
Delores loved her family with all her heart. Even throughout her journey with dementia, she displayed remarkable strength, grace and resilience. She was a faithful woman of God who loved reading her Bible and attending church.
In her earlier years, she found great joy in gardening and spending time outdoors. She had a kind and gentle spirit, always choosing to see the good in others. Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering faith touched the lives of everyone who knew her, and her legacy will live on through her family.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregivers, Teya and Barbara, for the exceptional love, kindness, and care they provided. They would also like to thank the Hospice team for their support during Deloresás final journey. Also thank you Select Home Care and Hometown Care.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. May her memory be a blessing to everyone who knew and loved her.
Friends may call from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dave Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road, Elkins.
