Harvey Nelson

NELSON

Harvey Nelson, 63, a resident of the Lanesville community passed from this life Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Harvey was born Monday, July 22, 1963, in Harman, a son of the late Burley Nelson and Bonnie Lou Cooper Nelson, who survives. He had never married.

Left to cherish Harvey's memory besides his mother, are two sisters, Barbara Mayor and Carolyn Sue Whitman; two brothers, Gary Dale Nelson and Anthony âWayneã Nelson, all of the Lanesville community; a niece, Ashley Edinfield; four nephews, Timothy Pratt, Gary Dale Nelson Jr., Lance Wayne Nelson and Kevin Lynn Nelson.

Preceding Harvey in death besides his father was a half-brother, Timothy Nelson; and a half-sister, Christina Gorman.

Harvey graduated from Tucker County High School with the class of 1982. He was a truck driver having worked for Nelson Excavating, and later he became the owner and operator of Shoestring Trucking.

Harvey had been fascinated with big trucks since he was a child and that fascination followed him throughout his career. He also enjoyed riding his 4-wheeler in the mountains and along the road of his community stopping often to visit with neighbors and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 2 until 3 p.m., the funeral hour. Harvey's request for cremation will be honored.
