Homer Brake

BRAKE

Homer Brake, 78, friend to everyone he met and a resident of Huttonsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Born Thursday, Sept. 4, 1947, at Davis Memorial Hospital, to Neva Blanche (Bender) and Leonard Jackson Brake. He was married to Golda Sharp Brake in Elkins on September 16, 1969, who passed in 2012. Also proceeded in death are his two brothers, Kennie and Victor Brake.

Homer was a man of wonderful character who truly never met a stranger. He genuinely loved getting to know people, swapping stories, and making everyone feel welcome.

Homer was a hard worker who spent his years working for Lloyd McAtee, Buford Coal, Miles Lumber Company and his buddy, Mike Tacy. He loved driving truck but, his favorite place to be was right at home, living on Becky’s Creek and enjoying the peaceful life there.

He leaves behind his beloved son, Robert Brake; his sister, Mary Catherine (Sam) Jackson; family all over the country; and a community full of friends and neighbors who will deeply miss his warm smile and friendly chats.

In honor of Homer, strike up a conversation with someone new todayähe would have loved that.

Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Monday, July 6, 2026, from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Rev. Kevin Hostetler will officiate, and interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.
