James “Jim” L. Harris, Sr., 92, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 9, 2026, with his niece, Natalee, and her family by his side at her home in Cambridge, Ohio.
He was born May 29, 1934, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Samuel Cooper and Myrtle Lee Bennett Harris. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Mary Westfall, on June 26, 1956. On Dec. 2, 1957, he married Eleanor Ruth “Shortie” Zickefoose, who preceded him in death on April 12, 2014. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Virginia Lee Harris; his twin sons, Jim L. Harris Jr. and Tim L. Harris; four brothers, King, Burl, Junior and Lyle; and three sisters, Mary, Geraldine and Augustine.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Ann Foster of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren, Ryan, Jenny and Natasha; four great-grandchildren, Faythe, Hope, Elijah and Tyler; his caregiving niece, Natalee Stillion and husband, Jan, of Cambridge; caregiving great-nephew, Jason Stillion; caregiving great-niece, Lacy Booth; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim was a Christian by faith and believed in God and prayer. He was a proud member of the Franklin Lodge 7 A.F. & A.M. and the Osiris Shriners in Buckhannon. Jim was an avid coon hunter, loved watching his sons play music, traveling with Lacy and Jason's band; where he would always be a special guest singer, mowing his lawn as close to perfection as possible and going to breakfast for many years with his friends.
He retired from Corhart Refractory and then owned his own roofing and trenching business. Jim will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Friends will be received Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Holt Poling officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. The Franklin Lodge 7 A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic rites at the graveside.
