Janie Lowe, 78, of Elkins, formerly of Cass, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and gentle grace. She had a warm and compassionate spirit that touched the lives of so many.
She was born Dec. 25, 1947, in the Philippines, to the late Harvey and Anita Bond of Cass, West Virginia, and was the former wife of Grady Lowe. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Bond and Glen Bond.
Janie was a graduate of Green Bank High School and attended West Virginia University from 1970 to 1973 in pursuit of an Art degree.
In her younger years, she found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved fishing, taking long walks and spending time in nature, where she appreciated the beauty of God's creation. She also had an adventurous side and enjoyed the excitement of fast sports cars. Blessed with remarkable artistic talent, she had a gift for drawing and painting, creating beautiful works.
Her high school years were filled with memorable accomplishments that she cherished throughout her life. She was honored to be crowned prom queen, was selected to play the leading lady in her senior class play and was voted 'Daisy Mae' for her senior Sock Hop. These special moments reflected not only her beauty, but also the warmth, charm, and personality that endeared her to so many.
Above all, she will be remembered for the gentle way she lived her life -- with love, compassion, humility. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
Survivors include three sisters, Shirley Dimino and husband, David Cruickshank, of Palm Bay, Florida, Dorothy Watson and husband, Lewis, of Washington, West Virginia, and Marie Waybright of Elkins, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Patricia Bond (late Arnold's wife) of Cass, West Virginia; four brothers, Gerald Bond of Elkins, West Virginia, Adam Bond and wife Cynthia, of Jasper, Florida, James Bond and wife, Jeannette, of Weeki Wachee, Florida; and Michael Bond and wife, Beth, of Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2026 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Au.t 1, 2026, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Interment will follow in Beaver Creek Cemetery at Watoga, West Virginia.
The family request memorial contributions be made to Appalachian Mental Health Center, c/o Dr. Richard Kiley, 725 Yokum St., Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Janie.
