Jo Ellen Dolly Parsons, 86, of Elkins, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday evening July 17, 2026, at Mountain Memories Assisted Living in Elkins, West Virginia, following a period of declining health.
She was born Monday, Aug. 28, 1939, in Elkins, West Virginia. Jo Ellen was the daughter of the late Clifford “Sim” Dolly and Ellen Dolly.
On June 20, 1965, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” F. Parsons, at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Elkins, West Virginia. Together they shared more than 40 wonderful years of marriage and worked side by side in Jim's accounting office for many years. James preceded her in death Oct 27, 2006.
Jo Ellen found great joy in tending her beautiful pink roses, gardening, preparing her cherished Sunday dinners and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two sons, John F. Parsons and wife, Amy Parsons, of Elkins, and Jay F. Parsons and wife, Lorraine Parsons, of Elkins; also surviving are three beloved, grandchildren, Jared F. Parsons and wife, Dalanie Tompkins Parsons, of Lothian, Maryland, Justin F. Parsons of Mt. Washington, Pennsylvania, and Grace E. Parsons of Elkins, West Virginia. She is also survived by her brother, Charles E. Dolly and wife, Laura, of Fairmont, West Virginia; her sister, Linda Susie Dolly Isner and husband, Asher, of Beverly; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, James âJimã F. Parsons; and her brother, âBobã Dolly.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 10 a.m. until noon. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at noon. The Rev. Mr. Raymond Godwin will officiate and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, West Virginia.
