Kenneth Glenn Poling, 90, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life Monday, July 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of West Virginia Caring.
Glenn was born on Saturday, July 4, 1936, in Parsons, the son of the late Gaston E. Poling and Hazel Wilson Poling.
In Parsons, on February 3, 1956, he married Agnes Oldaker Poling, who survives. They had celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Left to cherish Glenn's memory besides his wife is a granddaughter, Ashleigh Sweeney and husband, Jacob of Rixeyville, Virginia; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Elizabeth Sweeney; his nephew and caregiver, Gary Herron; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Glenn in death besides his parents was a son, Eric Glenn Poling; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Poling and John D. Poling; and a sister, Grace Monastra. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Glenn was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1954 and had served in the United States Navy. He had worked as a stock person for Safeway for 33 years. Glenn was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion and the Tucker County Veterans Association.
He had attended Riverview Chapel at Porterwood and was one of the “Magnificent Seven” which was a group of veterans responsible for planning and building the Veterans Wall in Parsons. Glenn enjoyed hunting, watching wildlife and loved spending time with his family.
Glenn's request for cremation will be honored. Interment will follow at a later date.
