Lulabelle Sponaugle Hardy, 87, a resident of Hambleton, West Virginia, departed this life Sunday evening, July 19, 2026, at her home with her family by her side and under the care of Mt. Hospice.
She was born Wednesday, October 12, 1938, at Parsons, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Bryan Sponaugle and Delva Carr Sponaugle.
On Nov. 13, 1954, at Parsons, West Virginia, she was married to Edward Junior âBudã Hardy, who preceded her in death Jan. 15, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, Edward Wayne Hardy of Dry Fork and David Craig Hardy and wife, Christina, of Hambleton; two daughters, Lana Christine Graber and husband, Randall, of Bolivar, Ohio, and Donna Jean Poling Simmons of Philippi; 10 grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, Melanie, Jason, Brandi, Destry, Misty, Cameron, Isabella and Malia; one sister, Naomi Lambert of Mabie; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and two very special friends, Brenda Credal and Trudy Helmick, who took tremendous care of Belle.
Preceding her in death are seven brothers, Eugene, Harold, Lewis, Cleon and Butch Sponaugle, Allen “Hambone” and Burl Mason; three sisters, Wilda and Lucy Sponaugle and Martha Whetzel; and her stepmother, Armitte Sponaugle; two grandchildren, Joshua Poling and Holly Poling.
She grew up in Brooklyn Heights and attended the schools of Hendricks. She had previously attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church and had worked at White Gables Nursing Home.
She enjoyed gardening, watching the news, reading her Bible, playing Yahtzee and word searches. She loved telling stories and especially loved visits from her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, West Virginia, on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Final rites will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. Pastor Adam Snyder will officiate.
