Mary Jane White Henthorne, 82, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life early Saturday morning, July 18, 2026, at home with her loving family by her side and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
She was born Tuesday March 21, 1944, at Elkins, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Galford T. White and Evalena White.
On Oct. 22, 1960, she was married to Lonzo Burl “Bud” Henthorne, who preceded her in death July 13, 2015. They celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters, Velda L. Warner of Elkins, and Deana Henry of Montrose; two grandchildren, Sheena Arbogast and husband, Russell, of Cass, and Zachary Warner and wife, Briana, of Buckhannon; three great-grandchildren, Colten, Casen and Keslyn; special brother, Boyd White; special friends, Liz Collins, Norma Chambers, Pam and Bill Howell and Cindy Barb; two very special caregivers, Barbara O'Dell and Shanda Biggles; and a very very special friend and son she never had, Jo Jo Pennington, all of Elkins.
Preceding her in death are seven brothers, Roy, Otto, Cleveland, Harrison, Coslo, Gilbert and Galford Jr. White; and four sisters, Oma Forinash, Arlene Coberly, Carrie Owens and Bonnie Abbott.
She attended the schools of Randolph County. She had been a restaurant waitress and cook and a caregiver to the elderly.
She was a Protestant by faith. Her hobbies included music, singing, playing the piano and the guitar and gardening. She loved being Mammaw to Sheena and Zachary very much. She was a very loving and caring person who will be missed very much.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 10 a.m. until noon. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral Home on Thursday at noon. Pastor Nathan Bennett will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
