Tommie Franklin Poe Sr., 88, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at WV Caring Hospice Inpatient facility in Elkins.
Tommie was born Friday, July 15, 1938, in Barbour County, a son of the late Frank and Mary Poe.
Left to cherish Tommie's memory is his lifelong companion and ex-wife, Shelva Poe of Elkins; and four children, Timothy Poe and wife, Deania, of Mill Creek, Kay DeZalia of Greensboro, North Carolina, Betty Balderson and husband, Buster, of Ravenswood, and Cindy Teter and husband, David, of Walker; two brothers, Richard Poe and wife, Shirley, and Donald Poe and wife, Judy; and one sister, Becky White and husband, Gary; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Tommie in death besides his parents were three sons, Ricky, Michael and Tommie F. Poe Jr.; two daughters, Brenda Windlind and Sarah Blosser; and three brothers, Raymond, Roy and Allen Poe; and one sister, Shirley Poe.
Tommie attended the schools of Barbour County. He had worked as an equipment operator for David Waybright Excavating. He enjoyed trout fishing and being outdoors.
Tommie's request for cremation was honored, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
