Hope Yvonne (Bedford) Cross

Mrs. Hope Yvonne (Bedford) Cross, 94, a resident of Belington, departed this life early Sunday morning Aug. 23, 2026 in the St. Joseph Hospital at Buckhannon, West Virginia. Death was following a period of declining health.

She was born Nov. 3, 1931, at Montrose, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Gainer) Bedford. On March 16, 1949, she was united in marriage to Henson Cross, who preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2010.

She is survived by one son, Daniel H. Cross and wife, Freda, of Belington; two daughters, Barbara Summerfield and companion, Wayman, of Belington, and Beuna Pomp and husband, Mike of Belington; a special daughter, Connie Brown and husband, Greg, of Belington; and a son-in-law, Mike Thomas. Additional survivors include 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four children, Marlene Thomas, Linda Everson, Susan McMann and Ricky Cross. Sons-in-laws preceding her in death are Roger Everson, Roger Summerfield and Bill McMann. She was also preceded in death by several siblings and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Yvonne attended the schools of Randolph County and was a member of the Belington First Church of the Nazarene. In her younger years she worked at the Talbott Country Store and cleaned for various people in the community. She was a faithful and hard-working employee and helped anyone she could. She retired from the Talbott Lumber Company in Belington, where she worked in the clerical and book keeping department for many years.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and loved her family so much. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Friday Aug. 28, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will then follow in the Lambert Chapel Cemetery near Belington.
