Humbolt was born on Feb. 29, 1948, in Elkins and he was a son of late Humbolt Pritt Jr. and Helen Telemeco Pritt and was the grandson of the late Humbolt Pritt Sr. and Mabel Daniels Pritt, who raised him as their own son.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Mary Zirkle Pritt, whom he married on July 9, 1970, in Oakland Maryland. Mr. Pritt is also survived by one daughter, Angie Pritt, and her companion, Dannie Jenkins, of Hurricane; and one son, Jeff Pritt and his wife, Katie, of Elkins. He also has one great-granddaughter, Hallie Simmons of Rayville, Missouri. Humbolt has several nieces and nephews that will never forget him and two special girls that he thought of as granddaughters, Brenna and Shelby George, and he will be missed greatly by his furry best friend, Aspen.

Humbolt attended school in Beverly and started working at a young age to help his grandmother after his grandfather passed. He worked at various places until he became an underground coal miner and did that for 37 years, til retirement on July 13, 2015, from Arch Coal.

He had a love for old cars, especially the Ford Mustang, and he spent countless hours in the garage building his dream car after retirement, but if it was deer season, he was in the woods hunting.
