Juanita Jane Morgan

Juanita Jane Morgan, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the remarkable age of 103.

She was Born on June 1, 1923, in Barbour County, daughter of the late John W. Suder and the late Janie Currence Suder.

She married Elmer Pershing Morgan on July 3, 1944, at Buckhannon, West Virginia, and they enjoyed 55 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1999.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Morgan and Wanda of East Dailey and Mark Morgan and Ruth of Beverly. Also surviving are grandchildren, Penny Newton and Timmy of Florida, Beth Arbogast and Chad of East Dailey, Sara Morgan of East Dailey, Rachel Budner and Jonathan of Fairmont, Shaina Ballantyne and Eli of Elkins; and great-grandchildren, Cole Arbogast and Morgan Arbogast.

Also preceding her in death were a brother, John Suder; and two sisters, Wanda Suder Smith and Vera Lee Pomp Gibbons.

Juanita witnessed over a century of history, shaping her into a woman of incredible resilience, wisdom, and grace. She had worked at St. Joseph's Hospital, Lab Craft and Bata Shoe. She helped build B-29 planes in Baltimore during WW2, and is recognized as a Rosie the Riveter for her patriotism and love for our United States of America.

Juanita was an avid quilter, won awards and made beautiful family heirlooms entirely by hand stitching. When difficulties came, she refused to let circumstances define her spirit. God worked in her life and touched many people through her. She was a wonderful and loving mother and a member of the First Church of Christ in Elkins.

The family appreciates the wonderful loving staff at Mountain Memories Assisted Living & Retirement Center and the professional care of the WV Caring Hospice.

A celebration of her extraordinary 103 years will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, the 24, with Preaching Minister Jason Brandon officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery at Czar, West Virginia.
