Robert ‘Bob’ Grant Erickson, of Erie, Colorado, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 87.
Bob was born on Feb 25, 1939, in Elkins, West Virginia, to Joseph and Ida Erickson. He graduated from Elkins High School in 1958 before answering the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served honorably from 1958 to 1962, attaining the rank of Corporal (E-4).
On Oct. 23, 1965, Bob married Janice (nee Weakley). They settled in La Plata, Maryland, where they raised their daughters, Chrystal and Deena, and made their home for nearly 30 years. Later, they moved to their dream home in Hagerstown, Maryland, where they embraced retirement and enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures together.
Bob's career reflected his remarkable work ethic and determination. He worked in various roles for the Southland Corporation for nearly 30 years before retiring. Never one to sit still, Bob spent another 15 years working at Home Depot, where he enjoyed helping customers, sharing his knowledge, and continuing to learn new skills every day.
Bob had many talents. He loved gardening, cooking and baking for those he cared about and found peace in the outdoors. An avid fly fisherman, he traveled to Belize and Alaska in pursuit of “the big one,” always happiest when casting a line on a quiet stream. He was also a passionate hunter who treasured time spent in the field with family members. Bob and Janice shared a love of hiking and road trips, embracing every opportunity to explore together. A loyal Washington sports fan, Bob faithfully cheered on the Washington Nationals and the Washington Commanders through every season.
In July 2020, Bob and Janice moved to Erie, Colorado, to be closer to Chrystal, Deena, Scott and Tyler. That decision became one of life's greatest blessings. The years they spent together in Colorado were filled with family adventures, laughter, holidays and countless everyday moments that became treasured memories. Those six years were a priceless gift, and his family will forever be grateful for the time they shared together.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ida Erickson, and his siblings, Sandra, Betty Jane, Joseph, Leola, Ethel, Margaret and Norma.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Janice; his daughters, Chrystal and Deena; his son-in-law, Scott; his cherished grandson, Tyler; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
In accordance with Bob's wishes, no memorial service will be held.

Bob's life was defined by service, perseverance, humility, and love. While his family mourns his passing, they celebrate a life exceptionally well lived and find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind. His legacy will endure in every trail walked, every stream fished, every family meal shared, and every act of kindness inspired by his example.
