Robert ‘Lennie’ Scott, former resident of Elkins. passed away Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, at the age of 76 after suffering for 4 1/2 years with Cerebral Dementia and Parkinson Syndrome. He was residing at a Memory Care Facility in Fishers, Indiana at the time of his death.
Lennie had retired to Fishers with his wife of 16 years, Dee Dee Ward Scott, also from Elkins, who was a close family friend and a previous college sweetheart. They were married in March of 2010. Dee has two daughters, Mandi Richie of Austin, Texas, and Mindi Bessel, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Four grandchildren from these relationships called Lennie Papaw. Lennie is also survived by one sister and two brothers, Libby Scott Dolfie and her husband, John, reside in White House, Tennessee. His brother Chic Scott with wife. Darlene. live in Elkins; and his youngest brother, Marshall Scott and wife, Karen, reside in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Lennie and his first wife, Rosemary, had two daughters. Kimberly Scott Higdon and her husband, Pat, and two daughters are in Jacksonville, Florida. Amanda and her husband Clint live in Fishers, Indiana. with their two daughters and one adopted son from Korea. Lennie will be missed by nine grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.
Lennie was the oldest son of Robert and Marguriette Scott who resided in Elkins between 1963 until 1990. Both are deceased. Like his father and paternal grandfather, Lennie was a licensed engineer. He graduated with his BS degree from WVU and Master's degree from Notre Dame. Most of his career he was employed by Bayer Corporation.
Lennie will be remembered for his intelligence, musical talent, quick wit, sarcastic humor and a kind heart. He was a licensed pilot and had friends from all stages of life with whom he stayed in touch. Ten years prior to his illness, Lennie and Dee Dee enjoyed traveling to Europe and taking cruises to both hot and cold destinations.
The Funeral is planned for Thursday August 20th in South Bend, Indiana where he will be laid to rest with is first wife Rosemary.
