Carl William Allen, 88, a resident of the Clemtown Community, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, in United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
Carl was born March 25, 1938, in Arden, a son of the late Huber Nalda and Leaffie Dale (Robinson) Allen. In 1957, he was united in marriage to Shelby (Mayle) Allen.
Throughout his working years, Carl held several different positions and was known for his strong work ethic. He worked for Republic Steel and General Motors and later as a salesman for Wollam Chevrolet in Ohio.
Before retirement, Carl enjoyed traveling and making memories along the way. He also enjoyed hunting, watching Westerns, and spending time outdoors. In his later years, some of his favorite days were spent riding his four-wheeler or mowing grass with his faithful K-9 sidekick, Susie, close by. Carl especially enjoyed teasing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always finding a way to bring a little laughter to those around him.
Carl was a past member of the Elks Lodge and also attended the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his sons, Butch Allen and wife, Kim, and Michael Allen; grandchildren, Josh Allen and wife, Kellie, Jon Allen and fiancee, Tawny Rodgers, Tiff Allen and fiance, Jake Mercer, Stephanie Shoemaker and husband, Casey, Rachel Dixon and husband, Kevin, Abby Brannon and husband, EJ, and Chad Allen; great-grandchildren, Jackson, William, Brooklyn, Sylas, Trenton, McKenzie, Jacob, Ashland, Lexie, Brendan, Hayden, Zoe, Brody, Blake and Jason; and great-great-grandchildren, Hazel, Zane, and Beckham.
Carl is also survived by his siblings, Reva Blake, Ruth Ann Hathaway and Nolda Ray Allen and wife, Bertha; along with extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Allen; and siblings, Virgil Allen, Geraldine Queen, Pauline Allen and Paul Allen.
The family will welcome friends at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi, WV 26416, on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Carl will be laid to rest in the Clemtown Cemetery.
