Mrs. Emaloyn Brennis (Booth) Reed, 95, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Monday morning Sept. 21, 20260, in the United Hospital Center at Bridgeport. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born July 24, 1931, at Junior, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Brennis Dorman and Beuna Vista Ware Booth. On Aug, 14, 1949, she was united in marriage to Aldine Lane Reed, who preceded her in death on March 21, 2010.
She is survived by one son, Kevin Douglas Reed and wife, Nancy, of Nashville, Tennessee; five daughters Judy E. Wetzel and husband, Robert “Smoke,” of Elkins, Anita L. Myers of Elkins, Marsha L. Howell and husband, Robert, of Elkins, and Peggy Jo Tingler and companion, Dawn Pride, of Fairmont and Penny Sue Rennix of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Grandchildren surviving are Michele Crites and husband, John, of Petersburg, Erica Ann George and husband, Brian, of Martinsburg, Jon Corley and wife, Felicia, of Elkins, Michael Wetzel of Dry Fork, Keris Hadley and husband, Michael, of Augusta, Georgia, Christopher Myers and wife, Denise, of Elkins, Meredeth “Cari” Nelson and husband, Donald, of Lewisburg, Justin A. Reed and wife, Ashley, of Frederick, Maryland, Stacey E. Martin and husband, Derek, of Nashville, Tennessee, Joshua R. Clingerman of Elkins, Courtney E. Tingler of Indiana, Peyton Rennix of Salt Lake City, Utah, Thomas J. Rennix II of Fairmont, Robbie Howell of Elkins and Nicole Howell of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Additional survivors include numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Kermitt D. “Red” Booth, William “Bud” Booth and Leroy Booth; one sister, Madeline Moore; one son-in-law; Darryl Myers; and one grandson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Emaloyn attended the schools of Barbour County and was a homemaker. She was a founding member of the Goff Street Church of Christ in Elkins. In her younger years she was employed as a cook for Dairy Delite Restaurant, she also worked for Reidboard Brothers and H&P Clothing Store as an assistant manager.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed making dolls, gardening and being outside. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will definitely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. funeral hour at which time final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Evangelist Michael Phillips officiating. Interment will then follow in the Knights of the Pythias/Mt. View Cemetery at Junior, West Virginia.
