Rosalie Mae “Rosie” Carr, 87, a resident of Elkins, went to be with the Lord, Thursday Sept. 24, 2026.
She was born Sept. 14, 1939, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Theodore W. Peters and Sabina Bernice Ward Peters. She was married to Edgar Carr, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Pansy Gilkerson and husband, Paul, of Bartow, West Virginia, Vickie Truman and husband, Leo, of Elkins; two sons, Shellace Hedrick Jr. of Elkins and Kenneth Paul Louk Jr. of Virginia. Nine Grandchildren, Daniel Truman, Marty Price, Jodi Howell, Melody Parsons, Shelley Dawn Mitchell, Joseph Hedrick, Kenneth Louk, Jr., Kodie Louk, Samantha Louk; and 15 great-grandchildren also survive.
Rosie was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress at the White Front Restaurant. She also worked as a cashier at the Crystal Key Market and sold Avon and Tupperware. She loved plants and flowers, feeding and watching birds, and taking care of her special bird, Chico. She was a Presbyterian by faith.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, at the Ward Family Cemetery on Ward Road. Pastor Conley Ogden will officiate and interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made to the Randolph County Humane Society, 195 Weese Street, Elkins, WV 26241 in Rosie's memory.
