S. Kent Price, 80, a resident of Elkins, went to dwell in the house of the Lord forever on Monday, Sept 7, 2026, from his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Mt. Hospice.
Kent was born Sunday, Dec. 9, 1945, in Paden City, a son of Wanda Lee Weekley Price of Elkins and the late Samuel Joseph Price. On Jan. 28, 1967, in Elkins, he was married to the former Cindy Lou Smith, who survives. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Kent who became known as “Superman” graduated from Elkins High School with the class of 1964 and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Kentucky Christian College. From high school, he worked with his father in their print shop, Printcrafters. He often stated throughout his life that he was a printer by trade and a minister by profession. He spent 60 years ministering in four different churches, the longest tenure being in Randolph County at First Christian Church. On Sept. 6, 2026, Kent and his church celebrated his 60th year in ministry.
Of the many accomplishments and relationships, Kent was most proud of his 43-year association with Howell's Mills Christian Assembly in Ona, West Virginia. He had been a member of the Elkins Jaycees having also served as president during 1979. His life of ministry included serving as chaplain at Davis Medical Center and working with the Randolph County Coalition of Christian Churches. Weddings, funerals, baptisms, and stopping what he was doing to drive as far as necessary to minister to someone was his life. No need too great or too small that he would not seek the benefit of others.
Shortly before the passing of his father, Kent joined him as a 50-year member of the Elkins Lodge 108, A.F. & A.M., the Elkins Chapter 35, Royal Arch Masons where he had served as District Deputy High Priest, and the Pilgrim Commandery 21.
Besides his wife, Kent leaves behind his three children, Nicka Robinson and husband, Douglas, of Beverly, S. David Price and wife, Pamela, of Bethel, Ohio, and Ray Price and wife, Andrea, of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Beverly Jo Hoover and husband, Randy Moore, of Elkins; five grandchildren, Kasondra Robinson, Samuel, Isaiah, Barry and Malachi Price; two great-grandsons, Levi and Nikolai Price; and many friends.
Preceding Kent in death besides his father were two daughters, Mary Price and Sarah Eva Price.
Visitation will be held at First Christian Church on the Beverly Pike on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Rev. Don Hepler will officiate, and interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery where the Elkins Lodge 108, A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Howell's Mills Christian Assembly, 99 Christian Camp Rd, Ona, West Virginia 25545.
The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Samuel “Kent” Price.
