Janet Sue Nelson, 84, of Riverton, West Virginia, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, in Thomas, West Virginia.
She was born Nov. 22, 1941, in Riverton, and was the daughter of the late Frank Landes and Irene Ruddle Landes.
Janet attended Dixie School and was a 1960 graduate of Circleville High School. She worked at Aileen Garment Factory, Hanover Shoe Company and was an Avon representative. She attended Riverton United Methodist Church and Circleville Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and taking care of her dogs.
On April 6, 1962, she married Bardon Warner Nelson. He and their son, John Lee Nelson, preceded her in death Feb. 25, 1972.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Nelson (Linda Curry) of Riverton and B.J. Nelson (Julie) of Augusta, West Virginia; two sisters, Bonnie O'Brien of Maryland and Mary Monn (Greg) of Petersburg, West Virginia; one brother, Morris Landes of Petersburg; and two grandchildren, Bardon Nelson (Haley) of Kingwood, West Virginia and Renee Conneway of Morgantown, West Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Adalyn Grace Nelson, Brooklyn Braham, Colson Conneway, Cooper Conneway and Cohen Conneway; a number of nieces and nephews; and her four-legged canine companion, Dewey.
The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the funeral home chapel with David Hartman officiating.
Interment will be at North Fork Memorial Cemetery.
