Robert Lee “Bob” Harper, 79, a resident of Alpena, passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at his home. He had been in his usual health and his death was unexpected.
He was born May 19, 1947, at Franklin, West Virginia, a son of the late John and Evelyn Hedrick Harper. He was married to Elizabeth Carr Harper, who preceded him in death Nov. 13, 2025. Surviving is one son, Thomas “Tommy” Harper of Alpena; two granddaughters, Brittany Harper (Chuck) and Holly Harper (Kriss); two great grandsons, Justin and Kolton and his fur babies, Jack and Missy.
Also preceding him in death were two sons, Robert and Jeffrey Harper and a brother, Jerry Harper.
Bob attended the school at Alpena and held several jobs prior to becoming disabled. He never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with people and attending church services at the Church of God at Job.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Jacob C. Harper Cemetery near Harman.
