Patricia Scanlan Schoonover, 77, a resident of Montrose, West Virginia, departed this life on Feb. 25, 2024, at Mountain Memories Assisted Living Center in Elkins, West Virginia, after a three-year battle with cancer. A celebration of her life will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on March 9, 2024, at the Rotary room in the Elkins YMCA. It will be an “Irish Wake” without the whiskey. Eston William Nelson, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away Feb. 29, 2024, after a short battle with lung cancer. He was married to Joyce Elaine (Lamb) Nelson for 38 years who survives. He was preceded in death by his only biological son, Eston William Nelson, on Nov. 16. 2011.
