Kump Education Corner employment

At Kump Education Center we are looking forward to significant institutional changes.

Over the last seventeen years, volunteers have served the City of Elkins by funding preservation projects and providing educational programing since 2008 with no paid staff.

We have been an all-volunteer organization raising funds from donations and grants to pay contractors and casual laborers for a variety of construction projects and educational programs.

Now Kump Education Center is a 501-C (3) non-profit organization establishing a newly endowed fund to help pay a part-time administrative assistant. This new position will further the KEC mission and goals of providing academic support for students, professional development for teachers, outdoor educational experiences, and heritage tours for visitors. These goals honor Governor H.G. Kump’s family tradition of working for the public good.

Having paid personnel will allow Kump Education Center to offer more regular hours when the building will be open to the public. The Administrative Assistant will work collaboratively with the executive director and board of directors.

The duties will include, but not be limited to, the following list: 1. support educational projects, 2. schedule meetings and volunteer work, 3. develop fundraising and grant writing efforts, 4. record and report results from events and activities, 5. achieve documents, and organize materials, and 6. help maintain financial records.

We are seeking an individual with the following qualifications, but some of these skills may be developed on the job: 1. Communication skills and office work experience, 2. Excellent public relations skills, 3. Experience with grant-writing, 4. Outstanding verbal/written communication skills, 5. Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, 6. Experience with membership databases, and social media design would be an asset. 7. Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and priorities effectively and professionally, and 8. Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include occasional weekend hours for tours and events.

This part-time position will be 20 hours a week (1,040 hours/year) with a starting salary negotiable according to education and experience (approximately $15,000-$20,000).

The employee would work on-site. Of course, there would be time off for vacations and holidays.
