Hello from Barbour County!

Today, April 5, from 8 -11 a.m. there will be a buckwheat and pancake breakfast at Feed My Sheep Christian School in Philippi. Eat in or take out is available.

After getting your fill of breakfast, head on up to Battlers Knob for their Spring Craft Show from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. More than 50 vendors will be present. Stop by and see what kind of nice things that they have. My aunt will be there with her handmade blankets. Stop by and tell her that I said “hello.”

On April 6, there will be a special “adult only” Easter egg hunt at Battlers Knob. The party begins at 2 p.m. There is a cost for tickets, and $500 will be donated to Barbour County Softball.

There will be a Homeschool Skate Day on April 8 from 1-3 p.m. at Skate Zone in Belington. There will be a price for admission, with a skate rental.

The Weaver Church of the Nazarene will be hosting a Ramp Dinner on April 12, starting at 11 a.m. The menu will consist of brown or white beans, cooked and fresh ramps, potatoes, with or without ramps, cornbread, ham, drinks and dessert. There will be a cost for adults, and a lower price for children 12 and under. You definitely shouldn’t leave there hungry!

There will be a Spring Craft Show at Belington Middle School on April 12 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Stop by and see the Easter Bunny, as well as have fun at the egg hunt at 1 p.m. Concessions will be available.

Also on April 12, there will be an Easter Party at Battlers Knob beginning at 10 a.m. Each child can have breakfast with the Easter Bunny, do an Easter craft and receive an Easter basket. There will be a cost per child.

The “Pride of Barbour County.” Philip Barbour Marching Band will be having a Spaghetti Dinner on April 13 from 11a.m. – 3 p.m. at Philip Barbour High School Commons area. There will be a cost for adults, and a lesser cost for children, 10 years and under. Carry out and dine in is available.

The Barbour County Writers Group will be celebrating 50 years this month with an event at 17 North in Philippi on April 24 at 7 p.m. More information will follow, but mark your calendars for a night of entertainment and fun.

Easter will be here before we know it. Some of the Sunrise services that I know of so far include:

Tacy Crossroads Church will hold services in the cemetary by the church at 6:20 a.m. Breakfast will follow at the Tacy Community Center.

Faith Way Baptist Church will be having service at Camp Popeye at 7 a.m. with breakfast to follow.

All is welcome.

If you know of any other services that you would like to see in the next column in time for Easter, or if you have other Barbour County news in general, feel free to give me a call at 304-614-7782. I love hearing from you.

Until next time: “Let spring inspire you to see the beauty in every day.”
