ART CENTER’S PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD VOTING: Stop in the Arts Center to cast your vote for your favorite piece in the Gala Juried Arts Exhibition from today to May 16. The Art Center’s hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Fridays by appointment. Be sure to spend time browsing the gallery on the hunt for your favorite piece. How to vote: grab a ticket located on the check-in table, fill out the artist’s name and name of the piece and drop your ticket into the voting jar (located beside the tickets). Stay tuned for the results. Free to participate.
OLD TIME MUSIC: Join in the first and third Mondays, 7-9 p.m. at The Arts Center in Elkins for an Old Time Music Session. Beginning musicians are encouraged to join in. Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo, Dulcimer, Bass are welcome. Participants enter through the back door. For more information, contact dp-foot@hotmail.com.

ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY: will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. in the library at the IOOF Building located on the Beverly Five-lane. Those interested in genealogy are encouraged to attend and become a member of the ARFHS. MEETING: The May meeting of the Randolph County Democratic Executive Committee will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 5 p.m. at the Kump Education Center. Following the meeting at 6:30 p.m. there will be a letter writing party in cooperation with the “Results” organization. Please bring paper, a pen, envelopes and a snack to share if so inclined. WEDNESDAY PICKIN’: The weekly Wednesday jam sessions, sponsored by the Augusta Heritage Center, are taking place next-door to Augusta, at Armadillo Flats, on Davis Avenue in Elkins. Open to pickers and singers of all levels, the Country Music Jams are from 4:30-6:30 p.m., and Old Time Jams follow, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Look for entry signage at Armadillo Flats, or enter from C.J. MEETING: The annual meeting of the Friends of Mountaintop Public Library (FOMPL) will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, at The Gathering Room, at Cortland Acres, 39 Cortland Acres Lane, in Thomas, West Virginia. All are welcome — both prospective and current members. Light refreshments will be served, and officers will be elected. Updates will also be provided on the upcoming garden party and other events, and the efforts being made to raise funds for the new library building. PLANT SALE/BAZAAR/BAKE SALE: presented by the Emma Scott Garden Club will be Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Randolph County Community Arts Center. The event will include many items for sale and a bucket raffle. All proceeds will fund ESGC projects.
BUCKWHEAT/PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will host the last buckwheat breakfast of the season at the Lodge Hall on the Beverly Five-Lane on Saturday, May 17 from 7 a.m. until noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, coffee, milk and orange juice.
MEALS ON WHEELS: The Annual Meeting for Meals on Wheels of Randolph County will be held on Tuesday, May 20, at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the conference room at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at 450 Randolph Avenue. BROWN BAG CONCERT: This month’s free Brown Bag Concert will take place on May 21, from noon to 1 p.m., sponsored by Davis Trust Company. The concert will feature Elkins legend Gerry Milnes, an old-time fiddle player, and enthusiast, who values the sacred tradition of traditional music being passed along from person to person. The Arts Center is so excited for Gerry’s performance- you don’t want to miss out. Cookies and refreshments will be available for guests to enjoy. Don’t forget to pack a yummy lunch and bring your friends with you.
ALUMNI BANQUET: The 91st Beverly School Alumni Banquet will be Saturday, May 24 at the Beverly Elementary School. Registration and Social Hour will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. Everyone who attended Beverly School is invited to attend.
